Dog Day Care Assistant

The Doghouse is a professional dog day care and training facility situated on a natural site with plenty of space and beautiful shady paddocks. We hold a five-star council license to take care of 20 dogs per day. We would like to recruit a new team member to assist in the running of the day care. We take care of most breeds of dog including some of the larger breeds. We have a fully qualified behaviourist and trainer on site who assesses all new dogs and can be referred to at any time for help if necessary. Ideally, we are aiming to find someone with proven experience in the industry (groomer, kennels, dog walker) with initiative and energy. They should be reliable, sensible, and confident around dogs. The position would suit someone who is keen to study dog behaviour.

Duties include:

- Handling and supervising dogs during the day in a responsible manner - including feeding, walking, and administering medication as needed
- Housekeeping within the kennels i.e. mopping, cleaning. Maintain cleanliness and organization of pet areas
- Meet and greet customers and checking in dogs, keeping daily lists updated.
- Provide updates to pet owners on their pet's well-being.
- Gate security during drop off and pick up times, ensuring only customers enter the property
- Upkeep and care of outdoor paddock and carpark areas incl. emptying of waste bins
- Monitor pets for any signs of distress or illness and report any concerns to the owner
- Ensuring dogs have access to drinking water at all times

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in animal care or a related field
- Knowledge of basic veterinary care and common pet illnesses would be useful
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners
- Ability to lift heavy objects or animals when necessary

Driving license required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: £11.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 28.5 per week
