Senior Performance and Finance Officer

**Job description**
Performance and Governance:
- Lead Governance for the Directorate, ensuring the directorate is effectively managed. Work with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver Business Planning annually, Outcome Delivery Plans for the directorate and each branch, and all governance reporting for GSC. Manage the GSC Supply Chains Steering Group monthly, setting the agenda, ensuring delivery of papers, and organising secretariat (via our Business Support team). Deliver all governance reporting and ensure the directorate complies with all central requirements.
- Lead Performance for the directorate, ensuring the directorate understands how it is delivering its objectives. Lead monthly Delivery Board and ensure risk, milestone, finance and M&E information is developed, delivered, accurate and up to date. Identify strategic performance and risk issues and take independent action to action or escalate.
The post holder will have lead responsibility for these issues, and will work primarily with their Grade 6, Deputy Directors and Director to ensure seamless and effective delivery.
Finance:
- Support work across the Directorate Finance Team to agree budgets within the Department’s spending envelope and ensure robust financial and delivery plans are in place within the group. Ensure end of year finance work is planned for and delivered effectively.
- Influence financial planning through the provisions of financial assessment and support business planning and case appraisal. Embed a value for money culture within the directorate and supporting financial decisions through the provision of advice and challenge.
- Work collaboratively and constructively with Directorate colleagues to support the development of Forecast, Budgets, Financial Reporting, business cases and planning, ensuring that HMG controls and guidance are complied with.
- Line management of 1 x HEO Business Management Adviser, focused on Finance and Workforce functions.
- The post holder will have senior support responsibility for finance issues generally and lead responsibility for specific areas of finance business, working with their G7, budget holders and DIT finance colleagues.
**Hybrid working**
Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.
Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.
Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.
