This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and capable professional with a doctoral level qualification in psychology to work as part of the Enable Inclusion Team (EIT). EIT delivers evidence-based services to children, families and schools to support children and young people (CYP) with social, emotional and/or mental health needs. Primarily, EIT support CYP at risk of permanent exclusion from school and those presenting with emotionally-based school-avoidance (EBSA). EIT uses models from the world of Contextual Behavioural Science, including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), DNA-V and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

The main duties within this post include:

- Providing therapeutic coaching for adolescents at risk of school exclusion.
- Providing therapeutic coaching for adolescents presenting as anxious about and avoidant of school.
- Providing coaching, shaping and behavioural support at home for parents of younger children presenting with challenging and unsafe behaviour.
- Providing training and supervision to school staff around the use of ACT, DNA-V and PBS.
- Using functional analysis to help inform effective intervention for CYP.
- Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring they are kept live in practice and updated when necessary.
- Leading on EIT research and data processes, including developing and implementing strategies for collecting, analysing and interpreting both process and outcome data.
- Working as part of a team collaboratively to ensure EIT as a whole is doing everything it can to safeguard CYP, and to be as effective as possible for all of the children, families and schools the team serves.
- Using psychological supervision effectively, as a space to help reflect on, plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of psychological support.

This post, and the establishment of the team within which it will sit, represents a unique and exciting opportunity to build a scientifically-grounded and innovative psychological service from the ground up, in order to genuinely promote educational and wider prosperity for young people including - but not limited to - those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). In addition, the innovative nature of the project extends into its evaluation, which includes active research links with psychology and education departments at Bangor University, University of Warwick and Bath University.

You will participate in the delivery and development of the service as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, to include involvement in clinical activity, audit and evaluation of the service, outcome evaluation and governance.

You will be part of Enable Trust, working in partnership with Pathways Learning Centre on this project.

South-West NHSI Vanguard Programme

In October 2020, South West Health & Justice, NHS England & Improvement (SW H&J NHSE/I) selected Bristol North Somerset and South Gloucestershire CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) to deliver the Framework for Integrated Care, as the vanguard site for the Southwest. The Framework for Integrated Care, and the services it will underpin, has been developed as a response to the NHS Long Term Plan (LTP) commitment to provide additional support for the most vulnerable children and young people (CYP) with complex needs across multiple domains between the ages of 0-18.
