Starting Salary: £19,264 with the opportunity to progress to a maximum of £20,444 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Job Duties:
Today’s prison library is more than a collection of books. It’s hub for activities, a gateway to reading, information and wellbeing. Which means today’s prison library staff need skills that are more community focused. Today’s staff are inspiring, imaginative,and come from all walks of life. Could this be you?
You will be friendly, resilient, confident, and happy to work in a prisoner-facing role in an all-male prison. You will work as part of a team, to ensure library resources and information services are available to all customers. Duties must be undertaken incompliance with current prison service rules and regulations.
You may find the strict rules a challenge, but this role is so rewarding. You’ll be involved with partners such as the Shannon Trust and Story Book Dads. You will also help develop new initiatives to inspire and support customers within the Prison.

You need to remain calm under pressure and when faced with challenging situations as well as being able to follow rules, policies, and processes within a prison environment. Ability to use own initiative and be a strong team player.

This role requires background checks on successful applicants. No formal qualifications required.

This is a challenging, exciting, and rewarding role working within a Category C all-male prison. You will be working for the Library Service supporting the Prison Librarian to deliver a first-class service to HMP The Mount.
