**Role description**

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Order Management**: Oversee daily order processes, ensuring timely placement and accuracy of orders to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- **Invoice Verification**: Check and reconcile supplier invoices to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- **Rebate Follow-Up**: Manage and follow up on supplier rebates, ensuring all potential savings are realised and appropriately documented.
- **Data Analysis and Planning**: Utilise advanced Excel skills to analyse purchasing data and forecast needs. Develop and implement purchasing plans based on historical data and projected pharmacy requirements.
- **Monthly Tender Preparation**: Prepare, evaluate, and manage tender documents and contracts. Ensure compliance with pharmacy standards and legal requirements.
- **Monitoring Supplier Quota and Negotiating Increases**: Regularly monitor supplier quota and negotiate appropriate increases to ensure steady supply.
- **Action Plan for Out of Stock Items**: Prepare and implement action plans for out of stock items, including communication strategies with patients and prescribers to manage expectations and provide alternatives.

**Essential Skills**
- **Comprehensive Medication Knowledge**: Full knowledge of medication used in primary care and community pharmacy settings.
- **Industry Knowledge**: Awareness of significant industry events such as the Atorvastatin issues in 2023 and the Omeprazole spike in 2024.
- **NHS Drug Tariff and Reimbursement Knowledge**: Thorough understanding of the NHS drug tariff and reimbursement processes.
- **Advanced Microsoft Office Proficiency**: Expert user of the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. Must be proficient in VLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIFS, IF and IFERROR functions, multi-layer nested formulas, relative and absolute references, as well as pivot tables and charts. Ability to deliver and present statistical information, graphics, and reports effectively.
- **Coding Systems Knowledge**: Familiarity with coding systems such as DM+D, C+D PIP CODE, and GTIN is highly preferable.

**Qualifications**
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Dispenser qualification or NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in purchasing or a similar role within a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations and regulatory standards.

**Experience**
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in pharmacy
