**CONTRACT**: All Year round

**HOURS/SALARY**: 15 hours per week - £13.10 per hour

**HOWGILL MISSION STATEMENT**:
Howgill Family Centre supports children and families, with particular emphasis on the vulnerable and disadvantaged. Howgill aims to intervene early, helping to prevent families getting into crisis.

**RESPONSIBLE TO**:
The Howgill Board of Trustees is the legal employer for this post and exercises the usual responsibilities attendant to this.

The Early Years Project Worker reports to the _Early Years Project Co-ordinator and Setting Manager_

**JOB SUMMARY**:
Working alongside the Howgill Early Years Team the post holder will plan, implement, and deliver a full range of speech & language activities through fun, enjoyable and interactive sessions for babies and toddlers. The post holder will create an environment that nurtures and stimulates positive attitudes, independence, and an innovative approach to facilitating learning and development.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Using the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance, develop a range of resources and materials to support play and additional activities in the settings.

2. Accept children through referrals from support professionals such as Early Years practitioners, Health Visitors, hospitals, clinics and social services.

3. Provide children and families with 1:1 family support through S&L.

4. Work with adults to help improve parenting skills to meet the identified needs of individual children.

5. Plan and co-ordinate services and activities for parents/carers.

6. Ensure parents/carers have access to a wide range of resources to use at home.

7. Attend and contribute towards meetings around the child.

8. Maintain accurate client records and produce reports on activities and progress.

9. Contribute to the record keeping system to capture data and reflective insights.

10. Contribute towards achieving excellence within the setting.

11. Flexibility to work in all our nursery settings.

12. To lead and take part in baby and toddler groups Maybe needs more information, key part of job.

**GENERIC DUTIES**:

- To develop best practice and identify own development and training opportunities.
- To contribute to the development of quality systems within Howgill Family Centre.
- To comply with all the policies and procedures of Howgill Family Centre.
- To maintain at all times strict confidentiality procedures.
- The job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out by the post holders and identifies a level of responsibility at which the post holders will be required to work.

6. The post is for 2-3 years, with possible extension if further funding is secured. This post will be fixed term for 2 years initially.

In the interest of effective working, major tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changing needs and circumstances. Such reviews and other consequential changes will be carried out in consultation with the post holders. The post holders will also be required to carry out such duties as may be determined from time to time to be within the general scope of the post.
