We are looking for a Content Assistant who shares our love of radio to work across the BBC's 3 youth focused networks: BBC Asian Network, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.

BBC Radio 1 is the BBC’s UK youth music Station. Teams at Radio 1 entertain a young 15-24 year old audience through music across several platforms. Our linear and on demand programmes and mixes showcase a wide range of new music genres and support emerging artists, in particular those from the UK. The station plays a key part in reaching young diverse audiences for the BBC across the nation.

BBC Radio 1Xtra is a leading brand in UK black music playing the best new music, with a strong emphasis on supporting new UK artists and celebrating black British culture. 1Xtra is a distinct voice of black British identity, using the music, culture and the voices of the moment to represent. We offer a wide range of music shows covering R&B, Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Drill and Dancehall. Speech and discussion content highlights issues which matter to our young, diverse audience with authenticity and credibility. We work closely with other channels to connect the BBC with the next generation of young audiences.

BBC Asian Network is the UK’s biggest Asian multi-platform radio station. It champions and celebrates young British Asians with a distinctive mix of music and speech. Its programmes reflect the lives and interests of 18-34 year old British-Asians playing the best in music from Bollywood to RnB, UK Asian Rap to Bhangra. With over a million followers across its social platforms, Asian Network are the leading voice in young British-Asian culture.

Main Responsibilities
- The CA’s are contracted across the 3 Networks, so we are looking to appoint people who are keen to work at R1, 1X and AN. Therefore successful applicants shouldn’t rule out a rotation across the stations, there’s no guarantee if/when that rotation would occur._

As a Content Assistant (CA), you'll be a key member of production, providing a mixture of administrative and creative support as needed to enable the team to produce first-class content for our audience.

This support could take a range of forms, including uploading and maintaining website content, editing audio, video and/or images, you will be key in the delivery of our PRS legal requirements (Performing Rights Society - Music Reporting) and acting as a first point of contact between production, our contributors and audiences. We don't expect you to know how our systems work, we will train you when you join. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, excellent at planning and organisation but above all is passionate about the stations we supply.

Your day to day duties will have you working with Producers and Assistant Producers across either Radio 1, 1Xtra or the Asian Network

The role will rapidly familiarise you with the end-to-end process of commissioning, producing, and delivering content on a large scale, enabling you to work towards future progression into content production roles.

**You should have an interest and passion for Radio 1, 1Xtra or BBC Asian Network and the music and culture that is celebrated on those stations.**

**This position would suit somebody interested in building a career in radio content production, and who can already demonstrate an interest in the area. This need not have been professional - you may have produced content as part of a school, college or university project, work experience, voluntary work or have gained experience of working at community radio or university radio station, creating blogs or YouTube videos.**

You will have excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail, especially with written material and images.

As this role will involve working proactively to meet time sensitive demands, with a wide range of stakeholders, you should also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. Using your initiative will be encouraged

You should have good online literacy and be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for the latest technologies and content formats, including social media.
