Overview
The Multi-Disciplinary Graduate Scheme is designed to give graduate engineers exposure and experience across different engineering departments. This gives graduates a richer training and leads to more experienced engineers who can work across departments. Graduateswill work on live projects and are fully embedded into each team they work with.
The Structure
Graduates will generally take the following route through the business, with exact dates discussed to suit the workload at the time. Typically the overall scheme lasts 3 years and 4 months.
Design Office - 9 months (includes a few days in the factory and allows for probationary period/developing general business awareness)
Electrical Department (6 months)
Automation Department (6 months)
Factory Experience (3 weeks)
Projects Department (6 months)
Sales (6 months)
Following these placements the graduate would have a formal review with their line manager and another member of senior management to discuss their progress, best fit in the business and agree their final placement (6 months) - in a mutually agreed departmentthat fits the graduate and the business.
The graduate scheme finishes with a final review to confirm the graduate fits well in that department or to decide if there is a better fit elsewhere. At this stage the graduate has completed the scheme and is launched into the business in their chosen department.Usually annual appraisals and ongoing training would then apply.
