Contract: 30 hours per week x 34 weeks, annualised hours contract

**Salary**: £12.00 per hour plus holiday pay, £13,794.48 per annum

St Chad’s is a distinctive independent college, recognised by Durham University and is a vibrant and progressive academic community. Home to around 600 students, including 150 postgraduates. St Chad’s welcomes students and staff of all faiths, cultures, nationalities, and educational backgrounds. Its ethos is friendly, traditional, and forward-looking. Outside of term-time, the College operates as a Conference and Wedding Venue and also accepts bookings for bed and breakfast accommodation.

St Chad’s is committed to delivering the highest possible standards of service to all its stakeholders.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced kitchen porter with a proven work history in this area to work in our college.

The working week will be five days out of seven and will include evenings and weekends on a rota basis, as business demands. Holiday and sickness cover may be required.

Working as part of a team, the post holder will be responsible for day to day cleaning of kitchen and catering equipment, receipt and storage of deliveries and food preparation.

Basic food hygiene & C.O.S.H.H certificate desirable but not essential as training will be given.

Further information will be issued in the contract of employment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain a safe and secure working environment
- Maintain personal health and hygiene
- Carry out procedures in the event of a fire
- Maintain a secure environment for customers, staff and visitors
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers
- Present positive personal image to customer
- Create and maintain effective working relationships
- Establish and maintain working relationships with other members of staff
- Receive and handle food deliveries
- Store food deliveries with knowledge of stock rotation
- Clean food production areas
- Clean food production equipment
- Basic food preparation
