**VANRATH** are recruiting a **Enforcement Officer
- Public Sector (Part-time & Full-time) **to enforce via both proactive and reactive measures, all relevant legislation, local Orders and bye-laws relating to dogs, litter, waste and local environmental quality matters.

**Remuneration**:
c£27,852 per annum, alongside holiday entitlement.

**Responsibilities**

- Enforce via both proactive and reactive measures, all relevant legislation, local Orders and bye-laws relating to dogs, litter, waste and local environmental quality matters as required in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation and Authorisation and its Enforcement Policy and Procedures.
- Investigate incidents and complaints and carry out inspections of premises as directed by the Senior Enforcement Officer or Principal Environmental Health Officer.
- Ensure the safe collection, seizure, handling, microchipping and transportation of dogs.
- Patrol the Borough to identify and effectively deal with non-compliance, deter anti-social behaviour and provide advice to members of the public.
- Serve/issue notices and fixed penalties where appropriate.
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of the Street Trading Act and Smoking Order (NI) as required.
- Participate in the sampling of water, air (diffusion tube monitoring) and other material as required.
- Prepare/take statements, interview witnesses/suspects including interviews under PACE, and prepare written reports on all investigations. Present evidence in prosecution cases and attend court as required.

**The Ideal Person**
- Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs to include English Language and Maths (grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications to demonstrate literacy and numeracy

**AND**

Be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they have **two years’** experience in a similar role, to include:

- Dealing with confrontational situations involving members of the general public
- Effective enforcement of legislation
- Drafting letters, statements and reports which are appropriate and fit for purpose

Be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they have **four** **years’** experience in a similar role, to include:

- Dealing with confrontational situations involving members of the general public
- Effective enforcement of legislation
- Drafting letters, statements and reports which are appropriate and fit for purpose.

A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle **OR** have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post

This post will require confident handling of dogs. Applicants must be willing to undertake appropriate training.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: £27,852.00-£30,151.00 per year
