**Environmental Information Advisor **to join our team
- based in
** Bristol or Exeter. **Joining us on a
**full-time permanent** basis, you will receive a competitive salary of
**£28,800 - £35,200 per annum **plus excellent benefits.

**About the role**

***

As our Environmental Information Advisor, you will work alongside the legal team and across the business, to assist with improvements to access to information systems and processes, and ensure the accurate, clear and consistent provision of environmental information to the public.

You will support the business to both proactively disseminate environmental information and to respond to requests for environmental information under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. You will need to review and critically evaluate the information that is provided from across the business, understand the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, and produce clear and concise written responses to information requests.

Although previous knowledge of information rights and/or the water sector is desirable, it is not essential, and we can provide full training: we are looking for individuals with an inquisitive approach, strong written communication skills, and who enjoy the challenge of learning new areas.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Reviewing requests for environmental information from members of the public and, with the help of the business, drafting clear and concise responses to requests
- Assessing if, and if so how, requests must be dealt with under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, with support as required from Pennon’s specialist environmental law team
- Tracking updates to the information law regime through research and attending training, to ensure up-to-date knowledge of this fast-moving area of law
- Tracking requests to ensure compliance with statutory timelines
- Spotting risks and areas of concern raised by requests, and ensuring issues are escalated appropriately for resolution[LW1]
- Testing and challenging information provided by the business to ensure it is robust
- Reviewing and understanding the existing public communications and how, and where, environmental information is released into the public domain, to assist with consistent messaging to the public

**What we are looking for**:

- A desire to learn and develop
- Natural curiosity about how things work (particularly the operation of the water sector and its impact on the environment)
- The ability to understand and communicate complex technical or scientific information
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to articulate points in a clear and concise manner
- A willingness to scrutinise information and to challenge others on its accuracy
- Experience of operating under legal or regulatory regimes (not necessarily information rights)
