**Job Description**:

This role is to lead the testing on our portfolio and will be managing a team of Test Engineers. This role will report into the Test Manager and is an exciting opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic, motivated and delivery-focused team.

A talented Test Lead leads their team to be the gatekeeper between the product and the client. No detail goes un-noticed and no mistake will slip through. Good Test Leads lead their teams through the test strategies they create and best practices they instill in their teams. Test Leads coach their teams to understand a the combination of manual and automated testing is what needs to be done to achieve a product of the highest quality. That means that they have experience with tools like Postman, Selenium and/or a similar tool. It also means that a basic knowledge of programming is needed in order to know the product inside as well as out.

You will have experience of the full software development lifecycle, along with an appreciation of quality assurance, and the benefits of automation.

**Qualifications**:

- Responsible for the quality of output of your team of Test Engineers; you are accountable for ensuring that your teams have created high quality test plans, excellent test scripts and have effectively executed those scripts.
- Responsible for ensuring that you and your team raise any identified bugs in a timely fashion and support the development team with triage and own retesting of fixes.
- Responsible for transparent reporting on test progress which includes test preparation and planning, test execution, triage support and creation of test evidence, which should be shared with project/programme/delivery management where applicable.
- Responsible for the line management of your Test Engineers including any HR issues, supporting them in creating objectives and supporting them with relevant training plans they may need. You will also be responsible for supporting the recruitment of any additional people into your team.
- Responsible for ensuring that the test team are represented at project Go No Go meetings.
- Responsible for ensuring that you and your test team adhere to the testing policies, guidelines and protocols. Propose changes and improvements to the Test Manager where you see opportunities to continue elevating our teams.
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement for you and your teams. Examples include efficiency realisation, new technologies, training opportunities, proposing new processes. Think without limits
- Responsible for resource planning and skills mapping in your team, ensuring you and your team are equipped for the upcoming roadmap.
- Working with the project, programme or Delivery Manager to maintain the testing contribution to the portfolio roadmap including test estimates, skills required, resource planning.
- Responsible for identifying start and end dates for testing phase of projects and communicating these to the Project, Programme, or Delivery Manager. This applies to you and your team.
- Responsible for identifying any dependencies for test, proactively mitigating and informing the Project, Programme or Delivery Manager. This applies to you and your team.
- Responsible for providing, or ensuring that your team have provided, test estimates to the Project, Programme or Delivery Manager. Responsible for tracking forecast vs actuals for estimates to refine accuracy of estimates over time. This applies to you and your team.
- Responsible for ensuring test representation at project kick-offs.
- Responsible for identifying risks to agreed testing timelines and informing the Project, Programme or Delivery Manager. This applies to you and your team.
- Responsible for supporting with testing for live issues where specifically requested by the Incident or Problem Manager. This is on an exceptions basis and you are responsible for ensuring that you and your team follow the testing policies and guidelines and communicate with the Incident or Problem Manager.
