Preferably with an HLTA qualification or equivalent.

This will be at the HLTA rate of pay of £13.41 per hour.

18.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.45am - 12.30pm (term time plus 1 week) or

28. 75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.45am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 3.30pm, (term time plus 1 week)

Lunchtime duty - 30 minutes SCP 1 £10.50 per hour pro rata (claimed as additional hours)

**Your role**:
We are seeking to recruit 2 caring, creative, experienced, and outstanding teaching assistants to join our KS1 or KS2 team. Under the guidance of teaching staff, you will be responsible for groups of pupils and will be expected to plan small group activities as well as be responsible for assessing pupil’s progress and achievement throughout the year.

We would be particularly interested in hearing from applicants who have the HLTA qualification or equivalent or who have experience of covering whole classes for PPA cover or staff absences throughout the week, either morning or afternoon.

Teaching Assistants provide support to the teacher, and through this to pupils and to the teaching of the curriculum. All duties will be carried out within recognised procedures or guidelines and the teacher will be available for support and guidance. You will be expected to have some expertise/specialism. There will be some need to interpret information or situations and to solve varied problems. Problems that are more complex will be referred to the line manager.

**You will**:

- support pupils
- undertake a range of specialised tasks to support learning e.g. supporting literacy and numeracy work, supporting phonics, listening to reading etc
- work in small groups when supporting a 1-to-1 child
- work with pupils, either 1-to-1 or in small groups, some of whom may have Special Educational Needs
- model and support children to follow behaviour rules and use behaviour management systems as required
- look after sick/upset pupils and attend to physical needs (as appropriate)
- undertake first aid
- communicate with children, modelling and supporting play to move learning on
- provide support for the teacher during lessons, e.g. through directed work on the Literacy or Numeracy strategy and other curriculum areas, or supervising small groups of pupils whilst the teacher is carrying out assessments
- provide support for children including learning and behaviour
- be responsible for groups of children including learning and behaviour
- maintain records of pupil needs and progress
- assist teaching staff to ensure that the aims and objectives of the school are achieved
- make accurate and informative observations linked to ability
- undertake tasks to support the curriculum and assist with events organised as part of the curriculum
- support implementation of government initiatives under the direction of the teacher
- attend appropriate review meetings, if required by the Head Teacher
- undertake lunch duty to provide children with support whilst eating and during playtime.

The duties and responsibilities of any post may change from time to time.

**You will need**:

- excellent knowledge of the curriculum for KS1 or KS2 children
- experience of planning and being responsible for children in KS1 or KS2
- experience of assessment in KS1 and KS2
- excellent phonic knowledge
- to be ICT literate
- to have experience/ knowledge of running interventions
- i.e. Numicon, Phonics, and Catch Up
- behaviour management experience/training
- a willingness to run clubs after school
- creativity and initiative to create resources and plan exciting, practical and meaningful learning experiences for primary children
- to encourage children to reach their full potential in terms of academic achievement and their social and emotional development
- the ability to work as part of a team and be flexible
- a commitment to working in partnership with parents.

**Qualifications/Training**:
Minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
GCSE in English and Mathematics (desirable)

Evidence of post GCSE qualifications - HLTA Qualification or equivalent
