Would you like to be part of a proactive team acting as an ambassador for the Town Council in King George V Park and the town of Melksham? Do you enjoy meeting and greeting members of the public? Are you a confident speaker? If so, this role could be for you.
You will also provide support and assistance as a member of the Amenities Team in terms of running the splash pad and keeping King George V Park clean and tidy
The successful applicant must be willing and able to work a flexible work pattern including weekends and Bank Holidays.
**KEY TASKS**
- To operate and supervise the Splashpad in the King George V Park in Melksham.
- To be a highly visible Ambassador for the Town, meeting and greeting all customers and residents to the area.
- To patrol the parks and playground areas to challenge unacceptable behaviour and create a sense of management control and safety for all patrons.
- To carry out tasks of routine horticulture, groundsmanship including grass cutting, litter picking, strimming, pruning, sweeping and weeding at Town Council owned or maintained sites including the Splashpad at KGV, parks, play areas, recreation grounds, open and closed cemeteries as well as formal gardens.
- To assist as directed with regular periodic safety inspections, maintenance checks and remedial actions on grounds, premises and equipment at any Town Council owned, operated, or managed facilities.
- To undertake Streetscene cleaning tasks around the town to include street sweeping, litter collection, removal and disposal, etc. from public spaces, pavements, shopping areas, minor roads, recreations areas, parks and car parks. This includes the emptying of bins, manual litter picking and the safe removal and disposal of dangerous or hazardous materials.
- To undertake general maintenance in the town and park areas, to include the cleaning of, and repairs to street furniture, bus shelters, signage etc. as required.
- To remove weeds in and around the town.
- To respond to requests to clear isolated reports of littering/broken glass etc.
- To assist with general repairs, cleaning and maintenance of the Town Council’s owned or managed properties, plant and equipment.
- To assist with the planting, watering, and maintenance of the town’s floral displays.
- To deal with the public in a polite and respectful manner.
- To undertake mandatory training and any training identified by the Amenities Team Manager/ Head of Operations which is deemed appropriate to the role.

Expected hours: 20 - 37 per week
