**Software Integration Lead**

Glasgow (can also be based from Reading)

**About the Role**:
The division has a software function of approximately 60 software engineers who are supported by an independent software IVV (Integration, Verification and Validation) team which requires a full-time Software IVV Lead ideally on the Glasgow site to co-ordinate and participate in IVV activities.

This individual will have access to key senior software figures in the function so they can influence the software development process throughout the wider OME software function so IVV is at the core of what we do.

This role will be 80% hands on technical with about 20% management responsibility, where you will be leading a team which can be made-up of permanents, sub-contractors and partner resources.

It is important to have strong understand of software and quality assurance but also have an appreciation of hardware and systems engineering, as you will be responsible for Integration, build and software for multiple sites on a global level on a virtual basis.

Some travel between company sites expected, mainly in the UK (Reading). This will be mínimal (less than 10%), and some very infrequent travel abroad may also be required from time-to-time.

**Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Tasks**:

- Lead independent software IVV activities on the Glasgow site
- Work with the Software IVV Manager to help to populate the independent software test team
- Contribute to a set of common IVV strategies applicable to different projects and to software products to allow us to get off contract
- Contribute to a set of common IVV strategies that accommodate the flavour of Agile that OME adopt
- Working with key stakeholders, identify a suite of test-related software test tools that can be used across projects. Co-ordinate appropriate training
- Establish a common testing environment at OME level (supporting both restricted and secret networks), aligned with Thales UK engineering platform plans
- Review requirements specifications from a Software IVV perspective
- Advise key stakeholders on development and testing implications of software-related safety and security standards and where necessary raise alarms if advice/good practice is not followed
- Advise software project teams on what testing is required, and review the resulting Software Test Plans and Software Test Descriptions
- Create and maintain schedule plans for the independent testing of projects’ software components
- Lead test automation and execution for agreed software test phases
- Report testing status and issues to stakeholders and use automated metrics where possible
- Support the development of the team of Software IVV Engineers, perform appraisals (where necessary), and set objectives/goals for the team members
- Play a “hands on” role when required

- Defining and executing test strategies for real-time and embedded software systems
- Analyse requirements to determine the most appropriate validation method to be selected I,A,D,T (Inspection, Analysis, Demonstration, Test)
- Creation software test descriptions that will enable compliance to be proven
- Execution of test campaigns and generating software test reports
- Experience of all types of software testing, e.g. unit testing, integration testing, static analysis, etc.
- Creating an automated test environment and the subsequent tests
- Appreciation of interacting with hardware with a proven track record
- Working with Open Source Software (OSS)
- Using at least one of LDRA, PRQA C/C++, VectorCAST, Klockwork, Logiscope and
