An interesting and rewarding position has arisen in the Warfarin Management Service for an Anticoagulant Therapist based in the department of Blood Sciences at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust at the Furness General Hospital site in Cumbria. The successful applicant must be a Registered Nurse or a HCPC Registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist.

Experience as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist or Registered Nurse is essential. Experience of anticoagulant dosing is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be given.

This is a challenging opportunity to work in a team of Anticoagulant Therapists and Biomedical Scientists providing an effective and efficient Warfarin Management Service to patients in the North Lancashire and South Cumbria area. The service is based within an accredited Blood Sciences laboratory.

The small team provides a comprehensive Warfarin dosing and management service including patient counselling and dosing. The team also provides advice and guidance regarding Warfarin dosing to colleagues and other health care professionals. We work across the Trust to promote and advise on the safe dosing and management of Warfarin and work closely together with in-patient, out-patient and primary care services.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) is composed of three main hospital sites; Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital covering a wide geographical area, encompassing North Lancashire and South Cumbria. You may be required to travel to work at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary site in exceptional circumstances.

The post is part-time 30 hours per week, working 7.5 hours per day, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The Barrow-in-Furness location allows easy access to the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales and Morecambe Bay, each offering extensive recreational opportunities. The area also benefits from some excellent schools and colleges.
