The Royal College of Anaesthetists is the professional body responsible for the specialty throughout the UK. We are the third largest medical royal college in the UK by membership. With a combined membership of more than 24,000 Fellows and Members, we ensurethe quality of patient care by safeguarding standards in the three specialties of anaesthesia, intensive care and pain medicine.

**The role**:
We have an opportunity for a Media and Communications Officer to help us deliver communications campaigns to promote the work of the College, with a focus on media relations.

As part of our small communications team, you will play a lead role in identifying and responding to media opportunities. You will draft and edit compelling written materials, including media releases, statements, and briefing materials, aligned with ourstrategic aims. You will work with teams across the College to develop media plans to promote our work and monitor and report on media activity. You will be the first port of call for media enquiries and will enjoy building good relationships with journalists.

The communications team is part of the Membership, Media and Development directorate, which leads the College’s work on membership engagement, marketing and communications, education, publications and events.

**About you**:
You will have a good understanding of both traditional and digital media landscapes and enjoy the challenge of identifying opportunities to project and protect the College brand through the media.

You will be an excellent communicator who enjoys creating content to engage different audiences. We are looking for someone who has excellent writing skills and can distil key messages from complex information.
