**Position Overview**

We are seeking a versatile individual to combine the roles of Journalist and Copywriter.

The position requires journalism for our print and online publications with the skill of crafting persuasive marketing copy for our brands.

You will have an opportunity to make a difference working for an award-winning publication - the voice of Lancashire's business community, covering the second biggest economy in the North West.

You will also have an opportunity for in-depth reporting, creative feature writing and getting to the stories behind the stories. We produce journalism that leads the agenda.

Core responsibilities include assisting the editor, generating news and features, working with the marketing team and editing online output.

The role offers hybrid working opportunities with a minimum of three days per week based in our Blackburn office.

It also offers great scope for professional development and progression within a growing and innovative business media organisation.

It is an ideal role for a general news reporter or feature writer looking to build specialist knowledge to further their career, or those with transferable skills.

Ideally, you’ll like dogs and will be happy to share space with office hound Gilbert.

**Responsibilities**

**Journalism**

Generate and deliver quality stories and features for Lancashire Business View’s digital and print publications, including reporting breaking business news, digging out exclusive stories, carrying out in-depth interviews, and delivering sector analysis.

Pitch off-diary reads and interviews for Lancashire Business View.

Build up a network of local business contacts to stay informed about the latest developments and opportunities.

Attend and report Lancashire Business View’s events and attend and represent Lancashire Business View at other relevant events

Stand-in for the editor when necessary and ensure timely delivery of news content.

Liaise with LBV Hub members where required to ensure story quality.

**Copywriting**

Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and maintain brand voice, tone, and messaging guidelines.

Ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across all marketing channels and touchpoints.

Tailor messaging to different target audiences.

Write compelling copy for marketing collateral, including website content, social media posts, marketing and sales materials.

Develop engaging content for digital advertisements, social media posts, and paid campaigns to drive brand awareness and customer engagement.

**Ideal experience and qualities**

Proven experience as a journalist / copywriter, with a portfolio showcasing a variety of journalistic articles and marketing collateral.

Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to adapt writing style to suit different audiences and channels.

Familiarity with SEO best practices and the ability to optimize copy for search engines and digital discoverability.

Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for storytelling and a track record of generating innovative ideas.

Ideally, you will have a full clean driving licence and your own vehicle.
