**Job summary**:
The Radiation Emergency Response Group (ERG) within UKHSA’s Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards Directorate (RCE) is responsible for overall co-ordination and evaluation of UKHSA’s emergency arrangements for radiological and nuclear incidents.

ERG is recruiting to two Emergency Preparedness Administrators covered by this advertisement The job holders will be required to work as part of a small team of scientists. The main duties and responsibilities of these two posts are broadly split between the following work areas:

- Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) arrangements within UKHSA RCE including maintaining systems, training staff and the organisation of emergency exercise participation.

Support of ERG’s work with stakeholders external to UKHSA in the field of radiation emergency preparedness and response in developing arrangements and policies, as well as the organisation of emergency exercise participation and training courses

**Job description**:
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

- Maintenance of copies of radiation emergency response plans held by UKHSA, ensuring that the most up to date versions are held. This will require liaison with ERG scientists to ensure that plans are reviewed on a regular basis.
- Maintaining records of staff participation in training and exercises.
- Organising internal and external training courses including logistics, delegate contact, course material collation, and feedback analysis. This will require liaison with scientists in ERG on course material provision.
- Organisation of emergency exercise participation, including logistics, procurement, participation according to response role and setting up response facilities.
- Periodic checks and maintenance on response systems, databases and facilities.
- Arranging and attending meetings within UKHSA and externally in person and over MS Teams, producing minutes and records associated with such meetings where required, in accordance with records management processes.
- In conjunction with scientists within ERG, the implementation of organisational emergency preparedness and response systems as required.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Experience in managing information assets
- Experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, formally, informally, orally and in writing to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required, forming good working relationships
- Excellent organisational skills, including capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly
- Adaptable and resourceful. Able to manage and prioritise a personal portfolio of short and long-term work, to make decisions autonomously, when required, working to tight and often changing timescales

**Desirable**
- Relevant qualifications in training or emergency preparedness
- Experience in training and exercise design, delivery and evaluation.
- Knowledge of UK multi-agency emergency response arrangements
- Experience in the development of advice in radiological protection
