**Environmental Health Practitioner/Senior Food and Safety Officer**

The Council is actively supporting businesses by successfully bidding for funding to develop and improve the local environment such as upgrades to the fixed market and the rebuilding of the historic winter gardens. The Council also successfully supports the local offshore industry which is central to the local economy.

This is an opportunity to join a busy, friendly and professional Commercial Team who are adaptive in their approach to businesses. Your main responsibilities will include the enforcement of food safety legislation in high and medium risk food premises, investigating food complaints and food borne illnesses, food/water sampling, health and safety, ship sanitation certificates, infectious diseases and supporting/advising local businesses.

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and forward-thinking Environmental Health Practitioner/Senior Food and Safety Officer to join the team. You will be responsible for your own caseload, supporting the development of policy and procedures for the team as well as supporting other officers in the team.

Applicants will already hold a degree/diploma in Environmental Health, or the Higher Certificate in Food Control awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or CIEH. You will meet the Food Standards Agency competency framework requirements detailed in food law code of practice to inspect a full range of premises and hold a suitable qualification to allow you to work as a health and safety inspector in accordance with the health and safety competency framework.
