Our 2,000 Children's Services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic volunteers, who make a real difference to children, young people and their families. ‘Volunteer Voices’ is Barnardo’s initiative to ensure our volunteers have opportunities to express their views and ideas to inform planning and decision making. The ‘Volunteer Voices’ Forum is a fundamental part of ensuring the volunteer voice is heard and that volunteers have an opportunity to feedback on their experiences to shape the future. The ‘Volunteer Voices’ Forum Leader co-ordinates the Forum, including: promoting the Forum; engaging volunteers; leading meetings and, providing ongoing feedback. By having a volunteer to take the lead on the Forum, we hope that the Forum can truly represent the views and experiences of our volunteers. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the impact that meaningful consultation and participation can have, as well as an understanding of the value that volunteering can bring to Barnardo’s. You will be highly motivated, have great organisational skills, and be able to engage people from a range of backgrounds. The role is home-based with occasional travel and we will provide all necessary equipment to carry out the role.

Our volunteers help make this happen.- Tasks: Leading on the co-ordination of the ‘Volunteer Voices’ Forum and acting as the main point of contact.
- Championing the voice of volunteers at Barnardo’s and looking for opportunities to for volunteers to inform the vision, values, culture and aims of the charity.
- Overseeing all communications with members of the ‘Volunteer Voices’ Forum.
- Leading all ‘Volunteer Voices’ Forum meetings, both face-to-face and virtually.
- Encouraging membership of the ‘Volunteer Voices’ Forum and volunteers to express their views.
- Supporting the inclusion of volunteers from a range of diverse backgrounds.
- Seeking feedback and opinions from members of the ‘Volunteer Voices’ Forum around developments within Barnardo’s that impact on volunteers.
- Sharing progress and feedback with ‘Volunteer Voices’ forum members
- Regularly evaluating channels for consulting with volunteers to ensure they meet everyone’s needs.
- Setting up and managing new channels to improve consultation with volunteers in response to need.
- Adhering to Barnardo's policies and procedures at all times, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures.
- Participating fully in training and supervision.
- Volunteering within Barnardo's Basis and Values.- Skills: An understanding of being a volunteer and a passion for volunteering.
- An understanding of the value of the voice of volunteers in planning and decision making.
- Knowledge of different consultation methods and when to use them.
- Strong relationship building skills and an ability to relate to individuals from a range of backgrounds.
- Highly organised and able to manage own workload.
- Good communication, planning and evaluation skills.
