A world class, design and manufacturing client who services the defence and aerospace industries, are currently looking for a Lead Production Planner to join their team based in Ulverston, Cumbria.

**About the job**
The Lead Production Planner will oversee and coordinate the daily activities of departments and teams; Manage the operations planning activity for the business; Utilising the ERP system; Create and sustain a load and capacity plan that identifies potential capacity issues.

The Lead Production Planner will manage operations workflow via ERP / MRP; Lead schedule coordination, creation, and maintenance; Use Master Schedules as a forecast tool to place orders for required parts; Leading a team of planners to manage scheduling activities; Develop working relationships; Integrating new products and programmes in planning and logistics processes; Co-ordinate with the Supply Chain team to allow the buyer to purchase external piece parts as required to support demand; Chase progress and following up issues to ensure that activities are completed on time to support customer deliveries; Expedite piece part supply to support production schedules using relevant data; Generate Shop Order paperwork at the appropriate time, updating the internal working progress system to allow kitting to be completed ahead of the shop order required by the manufacturing team; Identify deviation from the plan and implement appropriate corrective actions; Establish productive, dynamic working relationships with all stakeholders; And other ad-hoc duties.

**About you**
You will have similar experience of working in a manufacturing environment with excellent skills in production planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement. You will be able to demonstrate innovative decision making, change management and continuous improvement activities with excellent interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and achieve business objectives.

You will have the following essential:

- IFS or other ERP/MRP system experience is essential.
- Previous planning experience is essential.
- Leadership / management skills.
- Leading change processes.
- Experience implementing new processes and procedures.
- Familiar working in operations shop floor/office environment.
