London, United Kingdom Greenwich Music School Full time

Hours: Mondays 4:45-5:45pm, plus concerts. Option available for additional teaching of one to one singing lessons on Mondays before & after choir.
Term-time, from March/April 2024.
Concerts: at least three per year as part of Greenwich Music School student concerts, usually either Saturday morning or weekday early evening.

Remuneration: an hourly rate of £36.31 (choir session paid at 1.5hrs).

Teaching takes place at Charlton House (SE7 8RE).

We are seeking an outstanding choir leader for children aged 7-11+ for our training choir Junior Voices, a non-auditioned choir with high standards of preparation and a positive, enabling tone for children to enjoy making music and learning together. Some children will be taking lessons, for others this may be their first experience of music education. Some will be supported by our Bursary Fund.

We are looking for an inspiring and energising teacher with excellent group management and interpersonal skills who can pitch activities well; support children to develop and learn through the term; who can read a group of children and adapt plans as necessary; who can involve children at different ages working at different levels; choose varied repertoire that will balance engagement, entertainment, challenge and inspiration.

The teacher may also have expertise as a one to one singing teacher for children and adults.

We are looking for someone who is interested to commit to the organisation - to our values and ambitions, to the students, teachers, families and staff. The teacher would be joining a team who are invested in the organisation and in the journey we are taking together - as one of the only independent full-service music organisations founded in the last ten years, which since its foundation in 2016 has grown to a highly respected and nationally recognised organisation. We’re looking for the right person to join us as we continue to innovate and grow over the next years.

Positions are self-employed, hours are by agreement and based during term time, with some additional holiday teaching by agreement.

We value our teachers very highly and work hard to create the conditions to allow them to teach to the best of their ability, to enjoy teaching, and to continue learning.

We are looking for teachers who:

- have at least a degree or equivalent in music
- have significant relevant teaching experience **(PLEASE INDICATE THIS IN YOUR CV)**
- are passionate about teaching, and about making music
- can inspire, challenge and encourage students
- create a positive, relaxed learning environment
- are self-motivated and organised
- will take advantage of being part of Greenwich Music School, sharing ideas with other tutors and engaging with the other courses and projects
- are committed to continuing professional development through training and engagement in professional dialogue.

Greenwich Music School is a charity and centre of excellence in music education, running high-quality creative music tuition, group courses, projects and training. GMS offers the same high quality music education to students of all ages and levels, from toddlers to professional musicians. Our bursary scheme supports those otherwise unable to access the benefits of music education.

Greenwich Music School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all tutors, staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

A DBS Enhanced check and proof of public liability insurance will be required before work is offered.

Applications will be assessed as they arrive.
