The Community Neurological Rehabilitation Teams covering the south area of West Sussex, based in Worthing is excited to be expanding to provide earlier and more intensive rehabilitation for stroke survivors.

As we develop the new Integrated Community Stroke Service we are looking for therapy practitioners to provide support and therapy interventions under the indirect guidance of registered staff to people who have had a stroke.

This interesting role will involve visiting stroke survivors in the community, most often in their own home. These individuals may present with complex health and emotional needs having experienced a life changing event which may also have a profound impact upon the lives of their carers and families too. You will receive training and support from our Multi-disciplinary specialist team which include, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and specialist nurses.

The post is for 37.5 hours per week. Part time and flexible working patterns will be considered.
- You will provide a high standard of care alongside other therapy practitioners either as part of a team or autonomously.
- You will work under the indirect supervision of registered staff to provide therapy interventions to people who have had a stroke, and feedback on clients’ performance and progress, as appropriate.
- You will have an enhanced level of specialist knowledge to be able to work with adults with a variety of neurological conditions and conduct non-complex home assessment visits.
- You will regularly monitor, evaluate and analyse treatment programmes and modify them without prior consultation with a registered therapist/nurse.
- You will work in the community in people’s homes and other locations.
- You will build a professional rapport with patients and their families, communicate with them in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture, ensuring that they are involved in and informed about their care.
- You will review and reflect on your own practice and maintain and develop your own competency through regular participation in CPD, clinical supervision and annual appraisal with a named supervisor and will seek appropriate guidance from senior colleagues as required
