Manufacturing Coordinator - Bootle
£32,000 - £35,000 Monday to Friday Days with an early finish on Friday.
Reporting to the Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an area within the manufacturing department, as well as line manage the team.
You will ensure that the daily and weekly manufacturing plan is achieved through the most effective use of resources employed to deliver on time and in full, achieving medium and long-term area improvement objectives and to deliver projects across Operations. The role demands a proactive approach to raise the overall performance in line with business and departmental.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure business SHEQ standards are adhered to individually and by your team of Manufacturing Operatives. This includes ensuring appropriate Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments are in place and are being followed
- Ensure a robust and clearly communicated safe system of work is applied for all activities taking place across the site
- Drive Continuous Improvement within the area, with emphasis on Visual Management, 6S and LEAN initiatives. Ensure that high levels of housekeeping are maintained
- Provide effective leadership to the day-to-day operations of the Manufacturing department, meeting customer requirements and efficiency targets
- Provide coaching and development to existing and new / inexperienced Manufacturing Operatives to ensure competency and development of the individual in line with business objectives
- Manage any employee issues within the department, including disciplinary, absence management, engagement, performance and development reviews, etc.
- Ensure the completion of training for all new starters, agency workers and annual training for existing employees
- Manage and lead the team to achieve targets and KPIs in line with service levels
- Organise the working area with the resources required to achieve daily /weekly manufacturing targets in terms of Mission Directed Work Teams (MDWT) targets including:
- Quality - Zero customer complaints
- On Time Delivery - Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) plans achieved
- Undertake project work on critical improvement areas for the plant and the wider operations group
- Liaise with all departments to ensure all materials are available to meet manufacturing plans. Report daily on any issues that could prevent manufacturing meeting ASCP plans
- Ensure that the Oracle system correctly reflects manufacturing status in real time, through accurate and timely bookings of Finished Goods
- Provide management support to Team Leader as required, to ensure achievement of area manufacturing targets and development objectives. Report monthly on all aspects of progress
- Undertake all tasks as required in accordance with standard working practices and quality procedure
- Demonstrate and role model Company values and leadership behaviours, setting the standard for the Manufacturing Team
- Complete annual training requirements, performance and development reviews as well as Individual Development Reviews in line with the company requirements
Skills and experience required for the role:
- Significant Manufacturing or Production experience within a manufacturing environment.
- You will be SHEQ focused and be IOSH accredited trained
- Understanding of modern manufacturing methods i.e. TPM, Focused improvement and 6S
- You will have great people management skills, with the ability to engage, coach and motivate the team
- You will be a skilled and effective communicator, comfortable communicating with people at all levels, from the shop floor to the Executive Team
- You will have the ability to effectively multitask difficult operations, thinking creatively to solve problems and have the tenacity to drive through to a solution
- You will have a customer centric approach and be able to demonstrate your ability to improve efficiencies with robust analysis and controls
- Flexible and adaptable to react to unexpected tasks or customer demand
- You can demonstrate the mental capacity to deal effectively with a high workload, prioritise own and team's workload accordingly
