Single Homeless Pathway Officer**
**£39,951 - £42,840**

**Fixed Term 12 months**

Newham Council is building a new single homeless pathway and we are looking for an experienced housing advisor to undertake this exciting opportunity. This role does offer flexibility to work from home but the post holder will need to regularly meet with residents and support workers at various local supported housing settings, attend relevant meetings and other activities which require face-to-face contact.

This involves triaging referrals, assessing clients’ needs and referring clients to the most appropriate service to meet their needs. The role requires close operational partnership with a number of key stakeholders including Newham HPAS, Newham IRSS commissioning team and Street Outreach Services.

Day-to-day the post holder must identify any barriers to move on within the pathway and find solutions involving both internal and external partners and stakeholders.

The post holder will be systematic and thorough in their approach, as well as being able to manage and balance a variety of competing priorities on a daily basis. This is an exciting high profile role, and is an opportunity to closely joint work with a range of partners and commissioners.

**About the job**

Homelessness in London is a big problem with more than 2000 single persons expected to approach London Borough of Newham this year.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have some background either in housing, homelessness or a relevant public sector field. You should be knowledgeable about the causes of homelessness and the difficulties for Local Authorities in addressing the problem.

Whilst this role is fixed term for 12 months this is due to funding arrangements and it is anticipated this will continue for the foreseeable future.

**Your skills**

You should have experience of:

- working in a service within a pressurised and high profile environment within a multi-disciplinary team, providing a quality service.
- achieving performance targets and meeting departmental goals
- working alongside internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives
- producing high quality written communications to a corporate standard

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock.
