Good communication skills are key to be able to deal with the general public, who may be distressed or have communication difficulties, whilst remaining professional and supportive.

It is essential to have an aptitude to learn the rights of access to data held by the Trust in accordance with key laws such as the Data Protection Act 2018 & the General Data Protection Regulations, Access to Health Records Act 1990 and Access to Medical Reports Act 1988, on the job training will be provided.

Communication and Working Relationships
- Work with members of the public and third parties, including solicitors, police, government bodies and other NHS providers to establish relevant data for disclosure.
- Liaise with all levels of staff to obtain advice, guidance and access to the data held relevant to the request, including clinical and corporate teams.
- Work very closely with colleagues in the Disclosure Team and wider Information Governance Team to ensure that processing is efficient and effective, following agreed operating procedures.

Management and Personal Development
- Maintaining and developing processes for the management of Subject Access Requests throughout all areas of the Trust.
- Be willing to undertake training on the different health record systems and software utilised by the Trust.

Clinical Activities
- Accurate tracing of all medical records that have been transferred to the Information Governance Department in response to a request.
- When appropriate seek clinical advice in relation to processing of a request.
