We are recruiting for a full-time, permanent role as a Chapel Attendant to join Business Leader Jo Coney, and her team of dedicated professionals at Lichfield Crematorium, serving the local community of Telford. This role will take on the responsibilities of a Cremator Technician too, allowing you the opportunity to become trained as a Cremator Technician, and gaining certification in the handling of our ancillary equipment.

As Chapel Attendant, the priority will be to maintain a high-quality environment that will give clients and visitors a sense of tranquillity, reflect excellent standards of care and sensitivity as well as ensuring the safe handling of all our gas-fired and/or electric cremators and ancillary equipment.

Standard hours are Mon - Fri (09:00 - 17:00) with the occasional Saturday to be worked 1 in every 3 weekends.
- Liaising with Funeral Directors and Ministers ensuring specific requests are carried out to meet the families requirements including consideration of varying religious requirements.
- Take responsibility for the preparation of the chapel before and after each service to meet Covid sanitisation requirements and ensure appropriate location of floral tributes.
- Ensuring music and webcasts are checked at the beginning of each day and operating the in house music system during services (training will be given).
- Conduct witnessed interments and scattering of cremated remains.
- Operating cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines (Full Training will be provided for this).
- Ensuring the safe custody of cremated remains left in the care of the Crematorium.
- Keeping a log of records on the computer to comply with the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
- Logging of repairs and maintenance to ensure that the cremators and ancillary equipment are maintained to the highest standard.
- Keeping stock records of poly urns and assisting in the keeping of other records by computer.

- Is comfortable with manual handling tasks.

- Have the willingness to be multi-skilled in different areas of the business.
