In this unique role, you’ll be joining the General Insurance Weather Modelling team to analyse and deliver highly specialised and strategically critical analysis of general insurance products, in order to achieve key business objectives.

We're a small team, so your remit and development opportunities will be broad.

You'll be building networks across the general insurance team in addition to the wider Group to support initiatives such as climate change modelling.
- Develop the LBG view of natural catastrophe risk across multiple functions including pricing, underwriting and Solvency II capital requirements;
- Support the internal response to weather events;
- Coordinate the production and quality assurance of weather risk Management Information by other team members;
- Investigate the use of new data sources, products and methods;
- Presentation of key modelling approaches and outcomes to senior General Insurance committees;
- Engagement with 3rd parties such as our reinsurance broker, model vendors and data providers.

We're looking for the following skills & experience:

- Excellent knowledge of UK weather risks, their relevance to home insurance and associated modelling techniques;
- Highly numerate with strong analytical and modelling skills;
- Strong background in object based programming languages such as R, and familiarity with handling and manipulating large/spatial datasets;
- Demonstrate flexibility to respond to weather events on short time scales;
- Able both to work under own initiative and as part of a team to consistently deliver outstanding service.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical data to a mixture of technical and non-technical partners;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages;
- Experience with vendor Catastrophe models such as RMS or AIR preferable, but not crucial.
