**About The Role**:
**Role Overview**

**Responsibilities**
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the financial planning and analysis process, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Provide insights and recommendations to support business decisions and improve financial performance.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and weekly flash reporting. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow effectively to meet operational needs and optimise working capital. Monitor cash flows, prepare and maintain weekly 52 week rolling cash flow forecasts, and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks, including credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk. Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard the financial health of the company.
- Financial Systems and Controls: Establish and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to ensure accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial data. Identify areas for improvement and assist in implementing those improvements. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Tax Compliance: Oversee tax planning and compliance activities, including VAT, corporation tax, and payroll taxes. Liaise with external tax advisors and authorities to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations (in the UK and Portugal)
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small finance team (1-2 individuals), providing guidance, training, and development opportunities. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships stakeholders internally, externally and at group level. Provide financial insights and support to facilitate decision-making and drive business growth.

**Skills, Qualifications & Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred.
- Experience in a similar role (with group and subsidiary reporting requirements is preferred but not essential)
- Strong technical knowledge of financial accounting principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
- Proficiency in budgeting and forecasting
- Experience of liaising with auditors
- Solid understanding of taxation and experience in managing tax compliance requirements
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong MS Excel skills and proficiency in other MS Office software
- Experience of Sage Line 50 and Xero desirable but not essential
