Work Pattern: Split shift (example 6.30am-6.00pm Monday to Friday)

(Annual Leave must be taken during school holidays)

An exciting job opportunity has become available within our school. Fellgate Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Caretaker.

This role is well suited to someone who is able to work intuitively and be hands on individual and well organised.

We are looking for someone who:

- Has good communication skills
- Has the ability to undertake moving and handling of physical objects
- Be flexible in their approach to work
- Be part of a team
- To use their own initiative where appropriate
- Will undertake any training that is required for the role
- Will adhere to statutory compliance/health and safety requirements

Main duties will include:

- Opening and closing of the premises each working day
- Checking the heating systems
- Keeping the buildings well presented, being responsible for the tidiness and safety of the outside including clearing snow on paths car parks/yard areas and treating these surfaces with salt/grit in poor weather.
- Carrying out any minor repairs as required
- Undertaking handyperson duties as directed by Senior Leaders (e.g. painting, decorating, fitting shelving or notice boards)
- Monitoring consumables, stock and inform shortages that need replenished
- Undertaking health and safety checks within the buildings and grounds on a daily and weekly basis as required (including compliance with fire safety and asbestos)
- Assisting with deliveries including unloading and moving to designated areas
- Reporting any larger repairs or security issues in a timely manner
- Ensuring that all the buildings are secure including out of school hours
- Will supervise cleaning staff in the school and clean/arrange furniture in the classrooms
