**Packaging Technologist - Permanent - based in Flint (2/3 days on site per week)**

**I am excited to present the role of Packaging Technologist onbehalf of my FMCG manufacturing client based in Flint.**

Responsible for the development and effective delivery within defined timescales of all primary and secondary packaging innovation projects for key branded customers

This role is responsible for the co-ordination of innovation projects generated from both within the business and one of its key global branded customer. This role will also be responsible for technical line trials on new primary and secondary packaging materials, ensuring that all materials / product development are compatible with manufacturing processes and machinery. This role will also have responsibility for compatibility testing of new liquids ensuring that they are compatible with primary packaging.

This role is of a cross functional nature between Commercial, Packaging, Engineering, Manufacturing & Marketing, in order to ensure that future developments are communicated and developed effectively within the business. In addition, it is imperative the business receives a clear understanding of any progress made and potential technical difficulties preventing developments.

**Responsibility**
- To develop and maintain a good understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, suppliers (existing and new) and packaging innovation within the industry.
- Supporting New Product Development (NPD) through sourcing and developing of packaging materials.
- Identification of cost savings to the business through packaging innovation and/ or materials development.
- To conduct and report back on Primary and Secondary materials trials and testing ensuring that these are approved and specified.
- To create palletisation configurations following line trials using a palletisation software system.
- The creation of material specifications and approval of customer artwork including internal specifications.
- Testing of new liquids to ensure compatibility with primary and secondary packaging.
- Maintenance of the packaging materials database and specification libraries.
- To provide support and assistance to Packaging colleagues in order to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide support to Sales and Marketing in terms of key packaging developments with an understanding of sustainability, packaging waste directives and the environment.
- To be able to manage and prioritise a high volume workload when dealing with numerous customers requirements both internally and externally.

**Requirements for the role**

Computer literate, especially in the creation and effective use of Excel.

Experience within a suitable packaging industry environment or Institute of Packaging Diploma.
