**Housing Enforcement Officer (Technical Officer - Housing Regulation) Trainee role**

Grade I £30,151 - £32,909

We are delighted to be recruiting for Housing Enforcement Officers to work within the Housing team within the newly formed North Yorkshire Council.

**What will the role entail?**

This is a varied and interesting role where no two days are the same, below are some examples of activities you would be involved in;
- Arranging site visits to inspect properties, assessing them against statutory compliance standards.
- Assessing the general living standards of the properties you visit, taking into account factors such as heating, ventilation and the supply of amenities.
- Communicating effectively with both tenants and landlords to provide advice and guidance (under direction)
- Ensuring accurate reports and records are made following each visit to ensure the necessary next steps can be taken
- Utilising the information, you have gained from visits to assist in decisions being made regarding the instigation of formal legal action,
- Attend various training courses to develop knowledge and skills to gain expertise for the role.
- Working with closely with Environmental Health Officers to collate information and evidence which will be useful to them when giving evidence in court.
- Working closely and effectively with the Councils regulatory teams, the Community Safety Team and various key partners including North Yorkshire Police and the Fire and Rescue Service.
