Day Operator

Salary - £26,133 to £30,744 per annum (plus benefits)

Hours - 40 hours per week, 9 hour shifts working 5 days per week on a Monday to Sunday rota

Reporting to the Day Operations Team Leader, the Day Operator will be part of the Day Operations Team responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the weighbridge, main tipping hall and plant feeding, Mechanical Treatment Plant, ash handling and all traffic movements associated with the delivery and collection of waste inputs and outputs and consumable materials at Millerhill RERC facility.

Millerhill RERC is a recycling and energy recovery facility where waste is processed to recover recyclable materials and energy through mass combustion.

What will you be doing?
- Operating the weighbridge, mobile and fixed plant and other associated equipment
- Ensuring waste is safely delivered and processed in an environmentally friendly manner
- Assisting with the co-ordination all vehicle movements on site
- Carrying out risk assessments
- Recording and reporting any accidents, incidents, near misses or defects
- Minimising environmental impacts
- Carrying out regular environmental monitoring checks
- Providing high levels of customer service to all site users
- Assisting with maintenance activities
- Managing stores and replenishing stock

What are we looking for?
- Experience working in an operator role in a heavy industrial environment
- Experience with site monitoring and inspection
- The ability to operate overhead cranes, mechanical plant, front loader machinery, road sweepers, forklift trucks and weighbridge
- An understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental legislation
