We are seeking a Head of English at Twynham School to join our exciting journey.

Twynham School and The Grange School (TGS) federated teaching structures for September 2021 enabling us to deliver world class educational experiences to students across both of our schools. This is a rare opportunity to join our organisation working as a Head of English at Twynham School. You will be part of a leadership group leading English across both of our schools with a particular responsibility for the department at Twynham School.

This is a truly exceptional and very rare opportunity for a talented colleague.

**Who we are looking for**

- Lead a strong and experienced English department alongside the Director of English
- Further improve the outcomes for students in English at Twynham School
- Further shape the English curriculum in all key stages to ensure that it is exciting and challenging
- Work with exceptional professionals to further develop a shared understanding of learning

- Is an inspirational and skilled classroom teacher
- Is an emergent and aspirational leader ready to take on additional responsibilities
- Has a clear understanding of effective pedagogy

- Will embrace our highly supportive and professional approach to education

**Essential**:

- An honours degree (or equivalent) in English or a related discipline
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience of improving outcomes for students in English as a classroom teacher
- Successful experience of teaching English across Key Stage 3-4 in a state 11-16 or 11-18 school
- Experience of leading staff and responsibility for outcomes of a cohort of students beyond your own classroom
- An understanding of effective pedagogy
- Successful experience of curriculum design Excellent classroom management skills
**Desirable**:

- First class or Upper second-class degree in English or a related discipline
- A background of working in a department with” above average” progress data
- Successful teaching experience of A-level English
- Evidence of further leadership development
- Experience of working across a range of school environments
- Experience of involvement in successful (good or outstanding) Ofsted inspection
- Experience of leading school trips and a commitment to the encouraging extra-curricular activities
- A knowledge of the changing national education agenda
- Ability to drive and access to own car
