We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assistant to join our team in Ashton-under-Lyne. This role is responsible for providing independent, technical service measures and improving the Business Unit performance against set standards through audit, assessment, knowledge, and coaching. Helping to close out corrective action for non-conformities with supporting training and mentoring when required. Driving the operating quality and hygiene standards of the Business Unit through continuous improvement. You will:

- Establish the frequencies for audits to comply with standards based on risk assessment specific to the business unit.
- Support Incidents as necessary and look to correct root cause where possible.
- Audit and maintain all records in the Business unit to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, food safety and legal requirements.
- Conduct random destructive testing to ensure product meets right first-time requirements and monthly water sampling.
- Conduct hygiene, environment and glass audits, ensuring appropriate standards are maintained and improved.
- Assist with site audits (all floors).
- Conduct daily hygiene walks and ‘Black bag’ audits (walking the production line removing any unnecessary items or contaminants.
- Conduct Ground Wheat & Raw Material intake (labelling all raw materials and collecting samples for lab).
- Conduct packaging intake (Physically checking deliveries on unloading).
- Collect samples for end-of-life and daily sampling.
- Ensure non-conforming product is actioned in a timely manner to reduce on costs.
- Audit mass balance for material usage and ensure appropriate action taken to reduce anomalies (audit through traceability system).
- Support safety initiatives and identify areas of non-conformance.

**Requirements**:
You will have experience and understanding of Quality Management in a food environment. Have strong technical and quality background with relevant qualifications and experience in food safety and compliance, as well as proven experience of driving quality improvement/ continuous improvement. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential, and robust PC skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. HACCP, BRC, Auditing, Microbiology, Allergen and Pest Management experience/qualifications will be a distinct advantage, as will demonstrating experience of Quality Management in a food manufacturing environment.
