HSB is currently looking for a Trainee Estimator to work in a busy engineering team to help support the senior estimator. You will be trained to understand the fundamental practises of marine build estimation. This role would either suit someone who has just graduated or someone with a years’ experience.

**Responsibilities**:

- Preparation of estimates and quotations, taking into account any previous or similar works carried out that will improve accuracy of estimation.
- Understanding customers build specifications and attaining competitive quotations and estimates to fulfil specification requirements.
- Obtaining a range of prices from multiple suppliers and sub-contractors suitable to issue competitive quotations.
- Understanding and remaining ofay with market rates for labour and materials.
- Holding meetings with Project Managers to discuss most cost effective delivery dates and logistics required to obtain goods.
- Gain regular updates on material and equipment lead times.
- Maintaining a good level of knowledge of latest working practices and marine equipment available on the market.
- Working with the finance team to ensure they are aware of estimated costs and labour requirements.
- Forming relationships with suppliers and achieving cost effective supply.

The Person
- Further or Higher Education qualifications with good passes in English & Maths.
- Must be highly numerate
- Recently graduated or a couple of years’ experience of working on projects
- Good communication and interpersonal skills - ability to speak and write in a clear, concise manner to build credibility with people at all levels of seniority
- Able to organise and prioritise own workload.
- Excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel, Project, Word and Outlook.
- Organisational skills - a high level of attention to detail and focus on accuracy is vital
- Problem solving skills
