Description

Pillar Kincardine are keen to appoint a Treasurer to support our Board of Trustees in ensuring the charity can continue to improve the lives of adults living in Kincardine and

Mearns seeking help to cope with emotional, social and mental health challenges. While the Board takes its duties and responsibilities very seriously, it is very friendly, mutually supportive and prefers to be as informal as the business allows.

Duties of the Treasurer include:
**Overall**
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.

**Specifically**
- Liaise with relevant staff, committee members and/or volunteers to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
- Make fellow committee members aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
- Regularly report the financial position at committee meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc.).
- Oversee the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls are in place, ie: o Cheque signatories o Purchasing limits o Purchasing systems o Petty cash/ float o Salary payments o Pensions o PAYE and NI payments o Others as appropriate
- Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
- Lead on appointing and liaising with auditors/an independent examiner.

Qualities
- Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management (as necessary).
- Good financial analysis skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly

Pillar Kincardine offers a needs led service furnishing individuals with the range of skills and opportunities they need to self-manage their mental health and establish meaningful community connections through a variety of professionally designed and facilitated community groups and projects.

Restrictions

Interest in the challenges facing people living with long term mental health conditions.

Travel details:
Meetings held in Stonehaven approximately quarterly for a couple of hours in addition to business sub-group meetings every 6 weeks approximately (mix of Zoom and face to face)

Training details**:Good support/training provided to all volunteers. All help greatly appreciated.
