Estimator/surveyor

Based in Northwest London our client undertake structural steelwork & architectural metalwork detailing, manufacture and erection across the South East of England

Founded in 1994 as a small fabrication business and has since grown to be capable of undertaking large contracts for major contractors which includes completion of the design, drawing/detailing, manufacture, supply and erection/installation of structural steel frames, staircases and architectural metalworks i.e. stainless steel with glass balustrading. Providing full health and safety package with full comprehensive insurance cover and fully trained staff, all of whom possess the Construction Skills Certification Scheme Cards and have passed the construction skill health and safety test.

The role

**Responsibilities**:

- Analyse tender documents, drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and required materials.
- Prepare estimates based on labour, material and equipment requirements.
- Develop cost estimates for new tenders and ongoing projects.
- Research materials, equipment and labour costs in order to accurately estimate costs.
- Ensure accuracy of estimates and evaluate risk factors.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate cost information.
- Develop and maintain cost databases.
- Monitor and report on estimated costs for projects.
- Ensure estimates are completed in a timely manner.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as an estimator in a steelworks business.
- Knowledge of cost estimating and pricing strategies.
- Strong mathematical skills and understanding of engineering principles.
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good computer skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Excel.
