**TITLE**:
Gardener

**REPORTS TO**:
Sam Lewis

**OVERVIEW**:
The Gardeners at Sam Lewis Landscapes and Gardens are the most important part of the company. Gardeners are responsible for the general maintenance and development of various private gardens, mainly in North London and surrounding areas - creating an impeccably maintained garden environment that is kept up to the highest standards, functional, enjoyable, safe, and secure for our clients and their visitors.

**ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

Tasks will vary on a daily basis and from garden to garden as determined by Sam Lewis and/or the client and may include:

- Carrying out a varied range of gardening duties, requiring a minimum amount of supervision and use of own initiative
- Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, litter and debris clearing, edging, pruning, seed sowing, bed preparation and planting
- Lawn maintenance and cultivation
- The use of a wide range of hand tools, horticultural machinery and powered hand tools, such as lawn mowers, strimmer’s, hedge cutters etc
- Ensuring that all tools, garden equipment and machinery are correctly maintained and serviced and that they are kept in good and safe working order
- Assisting with the construction of raised beds
- Awareness and practising of Health and Safety legislations, ensuring a safe working environment for everyone working or using in the garden
- Keeping the company vans clean and tidy and tools stored securely at all times.
- Undergo training as required
- Assisting in marketing tasks, such as handing out flyers and promoting the business to prospective new clients

**KEY REQUIREMENTS**
- Excellent communication skills
- Have a genuine passion for gardening and drive to develop within the company
- Competent and physically able to do hard manual labour
- Drive/ Hold a current and clean Driving Licence
- Have a track record or creating and maintaining gardens to a high standard
- Possessing a good knowledge of botany and horticulture
- Comfortable working in all weathers and seasons
- Ability to work well as part of a team and individually
- Creativity and eye for detail

**Desirable**
- Horticultural qualification
- Experienceand/or qualification in tree surgery
- FirstAid qualification

Pay: £27,500.00-£32,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

- Performance bonus

Work Location: In person
