**Brief overview of role**

A new opportunity has arisen at DSL Group for a Finance Apprentice. Throughout your time with the company, you will be reporting to our Finance Manager and assisting the Accounts Payable/Receivable and other finance tasks including recording supplier invoices, payment runs, month-end reconciliations, general accounting and assisting with other tasks across the finance team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Our Finance team is at the heart of what we do, helping us shape and deliver our ambitious plans for the future. Enjoying lots of variety, you’ll support our team and develop your skills in different areas of finance.

You’ll also assist with financial reporting and help to improve our processes and procedures. It all adds up to a great way to launch your career in finance with a team that is uncompromising and committed to providing an engaging, honest and inspiring working environment.

The role will entail different areas of the finance team to really broaden your skill set and understanding of finance. You will also be expected to complete project work to enhance your personal learning whilst benefiting the way the finance team operates.

**Training**

The apprentice will be enrolled on the Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship standard, which includes 6 AAT exams, in addition to the Synoptic Assessment as part of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) process.

The knowledge units will be delivered at the EMA training hub in Derby or Nottingham (depending on apprentices location) through day release.

AAT Modules are as follows:

- Bookkeeping Transactions (L2 Unit)
- Bookkeeping Controls (L2 Unit)
- Advanced Bookkeeping
- Final Accounts Preparation
- Management Accounting: Costing
- Indirect Tax

**Career Progression**
- Full time employment
- Progression to move onto Level 4

**Skills and Personal Qualities**
- Good and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
- Structured approach to work and very well organised
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Good understanding of the MS Office (Word and PowerPoint)
- Confident in use of Excel
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required
- Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn
- Ability to formulate own opinions by thinking analytically about problems
