Qualified ROVI to undertake Visual Impairment assessments, provision of equipment and mobility training to adults over the age of 65

1.1.1 Assess the rehabilitation and mobility needs of visually impaired adults or children with the aim of maintaining or improving their independence, confidence and abilities.

1.1.2 Under the National Assistance Act 1948, a duty to assess the needs of adults and children who are newly registered as blind or partially sighted. A duty to advise and inform, to assess for services provided by the Visual Impairment Team and/or referral to other services/organizations.

1.1.3 Assess the needs of visually impaired people who have additional disabilities or health problems. This will include those with mental health difficulties, learning disability, physical disability/frailty and dual sensory loss.

**Rehabilitation and Mobility**

2.1 Provide rehabilitation and mobility training for visually impaired children and adults on an individual or group basis.

2.2.1 Teach service users skills to maintain their independence, including daily living skills, mobility and orientation, personal hygiene, use of special equipment, communication etc.

2.3.1 Undertake mobility training unaccompanied, in Lewisham and beyond. To provide this training during the evening, in the winter months as required.

2.4.1 Advise on and assist with the provision of equipment required and teach its use, in accordance with Team policies and practice.

2.5.1 Advice on ways in which residual vision can be maximised.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**

Differing functional effects of sight loss, low vision enhancement techniques, appropriate equipment and services.

Techniques, processes and equipment used in the rehabilitation of people with visual impairment.

Applied knowledge, understanding and awareness of additional disabilities and their effect on rehabilitation processes, the visually impaired person and their carers.

Knowledge of the emotional effects of loss in relation to visual impairment.

Knowledge of the main services available to people with a visual impairment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temp to perm
