Applications are invited for a Post CCT Fellow in Cardiothoracic Radiology at the Royal United Hospital Bath.

There will be the opportunity for protected time for academic work to participate in a number of ongoing cardiothoracic audit and research projects.

This post is full time but anyone wishing to work part time is also encouraged to apply. The fellow will join the general SpR-level on-call rota (1700-2000 M-F; 0800-1800 Sa-Su) which runs in parallel to the consultant-tier rota, with the consultant on-call on-site.

The RUH is a busy district general hospital serving a population of 500,000. Extensive developments to the Radiology department commenced in October 2017 expand the department and provide a 3 rd (3T Siemens Skyra) MRI scanner and a 3 rd CT scan room for a new 128 multi-detector array, ultra high pitch Siemens Drive Cardiac CT scanner (for which we are a Siemens reference centre in Europe). A 4 th CT scanner extension (a second new Siemens Drive) was completed in July 2021.

The job plan will be based around 7-8 sessions of cardiothoracic reporting, intervention and MDTs, 1 general/acute reporting sessions (rotating between GP plain film, hot reporting and general/acute CT/US), with 1 session protected for audit and research work as desired.

Participation in the general SpR-level on-call rota is expected (1700-2000 M-F; 0800-1800 Sa-Su) which runs in parallel to the consultant-tier rota, with the consultant on-call on-site.

The fellow will work under the supervision of 5 Consultants with Thoracic subspecialty interest to help deliver the fast track cancer diagnosis service, reporting chest radiographs and 2-week wait CTs, performing lung biopsies and preparing and presenting at the weekly lung cancer multidisciplinary meeting. The department has an on-site PET CT scanner.

There will be significant exposure to interstitial lung disease with opportunity to participate in the weekly ILD MDT. The fellow will be involved in reporting CT and MRI for patients with suspected pulmonary hypertension and participating in the weekly PH MDT.

There will be an opportunity for the appointee to contribute to the current cardiothoracic imaging research projects such as HeartFlow and the Oxford Risk Factors And Non-invasive imaging (ORFAN) study assessing pericoronary fat attenuation on cardiac CT and the NCIMI AI exemplars
