The Yorkshire Arboretum is a glorious 120 acre garden of trees from around the world set in a stunning landscape of parkland, lakes and ponds on the Castle Howard Estate. We are currently recruiting for a **Cook/Baker** to join our team in the Arboretum Café. A great opportunity if you love to cook and bake and would like to work in a busy, friendly café set in a beautiful environment. With days/hours of work flexible to suit, the job-holder will help cook and serve a menu of delicious seasonal, locally-sourced food and drink, and deliver outstanding customer service to visitors to the Yorkshire Arboretum.

**MAIN TASKS**:

- Timely preparation, baking & cooking of seasonal food..
- Following menu's & instruction
- Serving of meals in busy kitchen
- Ensuring the kitchen areas are cleaned & maintained to a high standard
- Manual movement of stock using safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Enhanced knowledge of the products and food safety guidelines.
- Routine requisitioning of stock, food & disposable products.
- Checking expiry dates on stock.
- Report any stock loss / wastage.
- Acting as an ambassador for the Yorkshire Arboretum at all times

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**:

- An enthusiasm for cooking & baking
- Strong customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
- Good communication skills and a pleasant and polite personality
- Flexible approach to duties undertaken
- Ability to work within a team or on own initiative as required
- Honest and with a high level of integrity
- Experience in a similar tourist, retail or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential

**Job Type**: Part-time, temporary contract until 30th November 2023.

Contract length: 10 months
Part-time hours: 16 - 24 per week

**Salary**: £11.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Weekend availability
