**Purpose of Post**

To assist in carrying out routine and unplanned maintenance on Capital Reinforcing’s HGV Fleet and mobile plant

We are looking an apprentice to join our team who can demonstrate:

- An excellent communicator with the ability to maintain positive relationships**Duties and Responsibilities - Specific**
- To assist in the maintenance and repair of HGVs and mobile plant operated by Capital Reinforcing
- To assist in the maintenance and repair of plant and equipment of a type that by its nature and design falls in the capabilities of the Fleet Maintenance Engineer
- To assist in carrying out routine inspections, condition reports indicating if uneconomic to repair and pre-MOT inspections as necessary
- To assist in undertaking roadworthiness inspections of vehicles in operational use
- To assist in diagnosing vehicle defects and to inform the Fleet Maintenance Engineer
- To assist in carrying out general repairs and major overhauls or replacement of engines and gearboxes as required
- To attend vehicle breakdowns and conduct roadside repairs as necessary (within normal working hours)
- To assist in carrying out automotive electrical work
- To assist in carrying out gas burning and welding as necessary
- To liaise with Transport Personnel in relation to supply of parts, equipment etc. as required with suppliers
- To assist in the co-ordination of repairs and ordering/ receiving parts etc.
- To ensure the security of vehicles/site as appropriate, maintaining the workshop in safe condition
- To assist in liaising with sub-contractors to carry out work outside the scope of your job description
- To assist in completion of all documentation including worksheets and inspection sheets as appropriate
- To assist in updating and maintaining accurate information on Company IT maintenance systems
- To undertake an statutory training and study as part of apprenticeship programme

**Duties and Responsibilities - General**
- To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development and to respond positively to new and alternative systems
- To work with information technology and associated systems in accordance with Capital Reinforcing’s policies
- To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
- To understand and comply with Capital Reinforcing’s health and safety, environment and other policies
- To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function and level of responsibilities of the post to support departmental and company objectives

**Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, Attributes**

**Essential**:

- GCSE English, Maths and ICT equivalent to Grade C or above
- A requirement to meet the criteria for and undertake training as required under the apprenticeship programme
- A keen interest in motor vehicles and the ability to follow instructions
- Interest in learning about and working with heavy plant/ heavy goods vehicle maintenance
- Interest in learning about and working with auto-electrics, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics and basic electrical systems
- Methodical approach to solving queries
- Good time management skills
- Able to work some weekends
- Ability to work on own initiative, but understand level of responsibility within the team
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interact with a wide range of people
- Ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently
- Be highly motivated

**Desirable but not essential**:

- Previous work experience in a similar field or environment
- Hold valid driver’s licence

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £9,620.00-£28,319.04 per year
