**DevOps Tooling Lead - Atlassian**

One of our leading clients is looking to recruit a Devops Tooling Lead with Atlassian experience to join for a 6 month initial contract role.

Location - Hybrid/Berkshire

Rate - £800 - £850 pd - inside IR35

**Key accountabilities**:
Main purpose of this role is to look after the tooling services for the whole organisation. We are looking for a person with deep technical knowledge and hands on Devops experience, someone who has a good knowledge of various Devops tools and is able to come in and modernise current tools and practices. This role is also responsible for managing Devops teams.
- Provides technical direction for the ESO Enterprise DevOps Tooling Platforms and maintains the DevOps tools technical backlog (such as patching, upgrades, security, and optimising for scalability and performance) for the maintenance and support of the platforms.
- Lead technical implementation and adoption of DevOps tools and capabilities.
- Defines and Inputs into Enterprise DevOps tools standards, metrics and best practices.
- Evaluates and recommends new tools and capabilities and performs technical proof of concepts to assess new tools or implementation approaches.
- Designs reusable DevOps components (e.g. quality and security scans) and technical frameworks to support standardized pipelines and code reuse.
- Implementation of DevOps tools on cloud hosting environments, such as Azure.
- Overseeing team who provide support for the DevOps tooling platform

**Experience and skills:
- Previous experience with Atlassian suite
- In depth technical understanding and hands-on experience with DevOps tools and capabilities, such as, Bitbucket, Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx.
- Experience with container/orchestration approaches and tools, such as Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes or Docker
- Good Technical leadership and the ability to be hands on and contribute technically.
- Experience in establishing DevOps related patterns and frameworks to drive standardization and reuse.
- Expertise in cloud hosting environments, such as Azure, and experience implementing cloud-based services (e.g. Azure PaaS services).
- Communicates effectively (both written and oral) to a wide range of IT Stakeholders, including Enterprise and Solution Architecture, Application Infrastructure, Quality Engineering, Security, Solutions Engineering teams, IT Operations and Sr. IT Leadership.
- Experience in agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban as well as agile at scale
- Knowledge of either Maven or Python would be desirable.
- Expertise with using Jira (or equivalent such as Azure Boards/Azure DevOps) as day-to-day ALM tool
