We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Junior Sister with an emphasis on practice education to support Registered Nurses in clinical practice to develop the essential skills required to enable achievement of clinical competencies and professional development.

This role will not include night shifts or weekends.

You will need to be a 1st level registered nurse, have demonstrable previous Oncology experience and experience in the administration of IV medications and Systemic Anti-Cancer treatment.

Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture are essential.

In addition, you will have a recognised teaching and/or assessment qualification or a willingness to work towards.

You will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service for our patients.

To assist the Sister/ Charge Nurse in creating and maintaining a safe, therapeutic clinical environment for all patients and their families who come to the area. The post holder will work with the Sister/ Charge Nurse to co-ordinate all functions and activities to ensure a smooth running service to patients and their families.

To assist the Sister/ Charge Nurse in managing resources within the clinical area in a cost effective way. This includes maintaining and monitoring equipment and being proactive in managing staff rosters to minimise the use of temporary staffing.

To assist in providing strong proactive clinical leadership of the nursing and support workers that is motivating, supportive and sets clear boundaries resulting in high quality safe patient care. The post-holder will deputise for the Sister/ Charge Nurse and co-ordinate the nursing teams by liaising with all staff nurses and clerical staff to ensure continuity of care for patients and on-going managerial support for staff.

To work with the Sister/ Charge Nurse to provide a clinical learning environment that enables nursing staff to develop professionally and promotes the use of evidence in practice.

1. To provide strong leadership of the nursing and support workers within the department. This includes:

- Identifying training and development needs of staff in line with departmental and Trust Objectives and ensuring all new staff receive core and departmental induction
- Ensuring staff are appraised annually, have clear objectives which link to

department, division/directorate or corporate objectives and a personal development plan
- Ensuring performance and attendance issues are dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner and follow the Trust's Disciplinary or Poor Performance Procedures where formal action is necessary
- Observing and continually promoting equal opportunities in compliance with the Trust's policies on Equality and Diversity and Dignity at Work.
- Taking part in teaching responsibilities for the department and the school of nursing.
