At Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council we're big on innovation. To achieve this we want people with big ideas about how we could do things differently for the better and who aren't afraid to voice them.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to work within our Accountancy Team.

You will be involved in a wide range of activities which will give you valuable practical work experience in a fast-paced finance focussed office environment. As part of your role, you will be responsible for:

- Assisting the team with the council’s budget setting and year end closedown processes.
- Monitoring actual spending against budgets. Including checking transactions, correcting errors, raising orders, monitoring income, moving budgets, calculating and processing operational recharges and using the council’s main financial information systems.
- Producing accounts and financial statements including using functions within Microsoft Excel spread sheets.

As well as the experience you will gain through the role itself, you will also continuously develop your organisational, administrative and communication skills whilst studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration.
