The role of the SEN team is centred on the statutory duties from the Children and Families Act 2014 regarding Education, Health, and Care needs assessment (EHCNA), and Education, Health, and Care plans (EHCP).

The SEN Officer in Calderdale works alongside a second SEN Officer and SEN Caseworker in a School cluster which includes all phases/stages of Education and a share of other bespoke placements.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to leading on allocated EHCNA, and supporting the SEN Caseworker with complex EHCP reviews and casework.

Confident and concise communication skills regarding our role and responsibility are required when building professional relationships with members of the community or professional colleagues.

The wider team support one another with allocated mediation and tribunal casework, quality assurance of our work, and service improvement projects.

It is essential that applicants hold a relevant degree and/or professional, educational, health or Social Care qualification (Level 5), or have substantial evidenced experience in SEND, and hold a valid drivers licence.
