Look no further Derbyshire County Council has some exciting Estates Surveyor opportunities available to play a key role within the Estates Team at Derbyshire County Council for a dynamic and committed individual to support the council’s Corporate Property objectives managing an extensive and varied portfolio of assets valued in excess of £2 billion.

These roles are an excellent opportunity for you to support the management of the Council’s property portfolio to promote best value in the use of Derbyshire County Council’s land and property assets. You will be exposed to an interesting and broad range of service requests, so this is a great opportunity for an individual who already has, or who has a desire to develop a very varied, key General Practice skills and disciplines.

You will be joining a team of eager and ambitious Property Professionals and have a manager who is supportive and keen to facilitate your development.

Based in one of England’s most beautiful areas, including the Peak District National Park, with flexibility as to the mix of home working and from offices based in picturesque Matlock and across the County.

**What will I be doing**:

- You will provide the Council with professional estates advice in regards to providing professional and technical advice on real estate issues to senior managers and client departments.
- Use a wide variety of national and local data sources to provide information and reports to support the Council’s management of intelligence
- Run data analysis to inform strategic decision making to improve the Council’s understanding of the impact it is making in local communities.
- Support on a variety of research, policy and performance projects
- Use a variety of IT systems and packages to capture a range of statistical analysis activities relating to topics such as Council performance and crime & community safety
- Provide training and support on the use of information systems to a range of users across the Council.

**What skills and experience do you need to have**:

- Experience of property valuation methods and a good working knowledge of land and property law, including Landlord & Tenant, planning, dilapidations, and compulsory purchase.
- Experience of the collection and collation of financial information relating to property.
- Understanding of conducting lease and licence negotiations, rent reviews, lease assignments, lease renewals and the acquisition and disposal of property.
- Understanding of dispute resolution and landlord and tenant negotiations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability and confidence to work alone at various locations around the county in accordance with the Council’s Lone Working Policy.
- Ability to use computerised systems and databases including the use of Microsoft Office and other real estate software.
